8. The Ruby Red Trilogy
Is this another book review? Yes, it is! Today I come to talk you about the Ruby Red Trilogy. This collection of books tell the story of Gwen Shepherd, a 16-year-old teenage girl who has just discovered that she can travel through time. Thanks to this ability, she "steals" her cousin Charlotte's position in a society formed by two families: The Montrose family and the de Villier family. The time-travelling gene is passed through generations (in the Montrose family is passed down between females and in the de Villiers family between males). There she meets Gideon de Villiers, her new time-travelling partner, with whom she will have to solve the mysteries about the society she is a part of and about her real parents.
The author of these books is the German author, Kerstin Grier. These books stunned me from the beginning. I have to admit that what made me read them was the first film: Rubinrot, after which I proceeded to read the books and then watch the rest of the films and, like any other series I have seen: I binge-read them (if that term exists). In less than two weeks, with finals coming up from 1st of bachillerato I read them. Of course, the books are 100 times better than the films but, despite that, the films can bring this trilogy to life perfectly. They don't omit anything that is important and simply deliver a perfect summary of the books. I'm also thankful for the films because they meant the widening of the fandom, the same thing that happened to me.
